General guidance that applies to most digital cases. Detailed protocols by service and scanner are published once the laboratory confirms them.
Preparation
Capture after the field is clean, dry and free of visible debris.
Margins
Ensure the finish line is visible and uninterrupted in the scan.
Opposing arch
Capture the opposing arch as required for the case type.
Bite
Record occlusion in maximum intercuspation unless the Rx says otherwise.
Photographs
Add photographs when shade or contour matters to the result.
Review before sending
Check the scan for holes and distortion before submitting.
